You’ve Got Mail….. Paprika

9 Jul

We adopted Paprika on Oct 2009 when she was around 12 or so weeks old never knowing her actual birthday we decided that the whole month of July is Paprika’s Birthday.  For her birthday month she gets to pick what to watch on TV and choose what’s for dinner. Needles to say Master has started to get very creative with chicken and kibble.  So far we’ve had chicken sandwiches with kibble chips ( he wont tell me how he turned the kibble into chips, Chef secret! he said), Chinese chicken  with the kibble used as croutons, chicken soup with kibble crumbs, fried chicken with kibbles and gravy and I believe tomorrow is chicken and kibble pot pie.  Only 21 more days of chicken to go, August can’t come soon enough!

Paprika this year received an extra surprise, Gina the Min Pin Paprika’s Twitter buddy sent her a birthday gift. Below you’ll find a couple of pictures of Paprika and her gifts.

Paprika here: I  would like to thank Gina with a big wet kiss and  a lady like butt sniff.

I also  would  like to remind everyone that there is still time to send me a card or gift.  I’m not to snooty to appreciate belated  gifts either. Winking smile

Woof woof for now xoxoxo,

P

P.S In case you are wondering what I chose to put on my Netflix queue  so far I have Puss in Boots, Felix the Cat, Garfield the Movie, Garfield: A tail of two kitties, Phineas and Ferb ( Perry the platypus make me BOL, that’s bark out loud) Dog the Bounty Hounter but I believe the title is deceiving, we watched one episode I never saw a dog in it! Oh and the 7th season of House M.D.  I like to stay current on illnesses you never know when I’ll be out walking and someone might yell “Is there a Dr. in the house?”  They say a dogs love and tongue lick is the best medicine and I never leave home with either one.

XOXO

One Year Later…..

7 Dec

7-15-10-1-1

Just when you think all pain has subsided you find yourself waking up at 5AM one year later with the feeling of pain and sadness washing over you like a cold Dec. shower.

For those of you who have been reading my blog for the past  year or so you know what today is and for those of you who just recently have stumbled upon my blog you can catch up on my past here

Today is the one year anniversary of my darling little Tiki Tiki’s passing. Tiki Tiki had Hydrocephalus and on Dec 7th 2010 at 5 Am he passed away in my arms.

All week I’ve found myself in such a foul, cranky mood not knowing why, some days it goes as far as giving me migraines. I think I know why now.

Rest in peace my Tiki Tiki, you are missed so very much even thou you were taken away from us you will forever live in our hearts.

The smallest man that forever stole my heart.

Kittens anyone?

2 May

How was everyone’s weekend? Great I hope.

Well I really don’t have anything interesting to blog about but I do have some cute kitty pictures how about I show you that.

TCI Master found some kittens outside about a week ago and brought them in so we could take them to the shelter. But it turns out that the shelter wouldn’t  guarantee  that they wouldn’t be put to sleep, since the kittens are so small still and need to be bottle fed we were told that they just don’t have the time or man power to take care of them.  Both of us being the animal lovers that we are decided to take on the role of foster parents.  How could we not?  Just look at them.

Fostering cats and kittens has its rewards as well as its drawbacks.

First of all we had to bath them several times since they were infested with fleas and we didn’t want the dogs to get fleas. Have you ever tried picking fleas from a wiggling kitty? Not as easy as the monkeys make it look. We couldn’t use flea dip since they are to young.

You need to have lots of patience and  the physical stamina to tend to their physical needs, which  include bottle-feeding newborns around the clock every two-three hours. I got the night shift which drove me up a wall. I felt my nerves starting to crack their little cries are torturing especially in the middle of the night. TCIMaster had the day shift also very draining but not as much as the night shift when one is trying to get some sort of shut eye.

Then there is the act  of making  them go to the bathroom, you have to stimulate them to pee. Mommy cats lick their booties to make them go. Let me tell you kitten booty not so tasty (yuck). They are finally starting to use a litter box so that good news, I don’t know how much longer my tongue was going to last.

They are now starting to run, slip and slide everywhere. They love following us everywhere and running in between our feet. Its gotten so bad that we end up performing acrobatic acts just to avoid stepping on them. Little buggers move quickly and they love climbing up our legs. Have you ever tried using the bathroom with a kitten trying to climb up your leg? Its not a pretty sight that’s for sure.  Needless to say our legs are full of tiny kitten scratches as well as our hands and arms. TCIMaster even has a scratch on his nose!

They are taking over the place! They have even taken over the doggy beds, which makes for very moody pups. I’m sure the doggies will be happy to see them leave and get their bed back.

They should be ready to be adopted in a week or two. Meanwhile we get the joy of watching them play and grow. If anyone would like one let me know, of course you will need to live somewhere in southern California and now I can hear them crying , its time for their next feeding and if I don’t hurry my legs and fingers will pay the price for not attending to them quickly enough.

Happy Birthday

Happy_Sweet_Sixteen_2

I can’t believe that 16 years can go by so quickly yet here I am wishing my one and only daughter a Happy 16th Birthday.

Dear CC:

I wanted to give you a special gift, In a kind and unique way since it is your sweet sixteen I thought I’d do something special. So I took a jet  around the world, just the other day. I racked my head with gift ideas things you might just like, I saw  jewelry, cool clothing , gadgets and what not’s. But I just couldn’t make up my mind between rubys and a yacht. I thought I’d bring you home a pet, maybe a panda, a giraffe or a bat named Amanda.
But you can find those anywhere, plus a great pet caretaker you are not.  I was really on a mission as  I traveled through the world, I even fell off of a donkey, got chased by shark and licked by a monkey. When I got back I  realized the perfect gift for you could be found right here at home.  Just you and me together all day alone.

Happy 16th Birthday Tremendo.

 P.S.

I suppose I could have taken you with me and  that would have been a great gift.

P.P.S

If I really had gone don’t you think I wouldn’t have just given you money silly girl!

A Tiki Tiki Tribute

8 Feb

For the past two months I have been working on making a video to honor Little Tiki Tiki. It took me a long time to complete because I was only able to work on it for a couple of days at a time. I found myself crying to much as I went thru hundreds upon hundreds of the pictures we had taken of  him ……  On a good day I would go thru the photos trying to choose the best ones of him then  I would start to feel the warmth of my tears running down my face and the tightening of my chest to the point that I would have to stop working on my project and take some time off, days later I would find myself able to come back and continue working on the video having to stop once again because I just couldn’t handle the pain.

I did finally finish his video and this is the end result.

Time and Pain

20 Jan

Since the passing of Tiki Tiki I have ask’d myself several times if my pain will ever go away… I know that the intense grief over the loss of a pet is normal and natural. Don’t let anyone tell you that it’s silly, crazy, or overly sentimental to grieve! But when does it stop hurting so much?

People who don’t understand the pet/owner bond may not understand this pain.

During the months I spent with Tiki Tiki he became a significant and constant part of my life. He was a source of comfort and companionship, of unconditional love and acceptance, of fun and joy and I find myself devastated by the loss of such a relationship.

So I’ll let time pass me by as I wait patiently for the feeling of emptiness to go away, for the lump that forms in my throat every time I see his pictures to stop forming. I wait for the time to come when I can laugh at his memories and not cry.

Tiki Tiki The Fearless (Update)

18 Nov

Sept 9th 2010 was the first day that Tiki Tiki started showing signs of being sicky. He was diagnosed with having Hydrocephalus.

“Hydrocephalus is the accumulation of excess cerebrospinal fluid in the brain and is not normal for any breed, nor is it curable. It’s also known as “water on the brain”. When Fluid accumulates in the brain, it compresses the brain against the skull.”   Signs or symptoms include:

  • Crying out
  • Hyperexcitability
  • Extreme dullness
  • Seizures
  • Visual or auditory impairment
  • Spastic or clumsy walking
  • Circling
  • Head tilt
  • Abnormal eye movements
  • No motor skills
  •

On his last vet visit it was discovered that he also had a heart murmur, was missing a rib and a half plus his lungs make a clicking sound when he breaths. Poor guy just can’t get a break.

From the sudden moment Tiki Tiki showed signs of sickness, his motor skills went from being a normal running puppy to not being able to stand up on his own at all.  Master and I are his feet. Tiki Tiki, being a smart little guy, has taught us how to speak doggy. He now can tell us when he needs to use the bathroom or wants to be picked up or is ready to be fed.  Some days are better then others.  Some days he wakes up with lots of energy and sit up or tries to stand up. Other days he acts like a little rag doll and sleeps all day.

These past two days have been really good to him. He has had much more energy and  has been standing up for minutes at a time  (insert clapping here). What seems like a normal everyday thing for puppies his age is a big accomplishment for him.

In every other way Tiki Tiki is a normal an extra sweet, loveable and  adorable puppy. He enjoys being held and kissed and Loves to snack!  Especially whipped cream and chicken; but not together. He will bark at strangers when they walk in or growl at Evilcat for getting too close. He can even play with Peanut in his bed .
