A New Breed for Guard Dog
19 JulI twitted about this article last night but the video is a must see, so I’ve posted it here just in case you missed it on my timeline.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials Monday released a video of a robbery attempt foiled by an enraged and barking Chihuahua, hoping the public can identify the two assailants.
The attempted robbery took place July 7 about 7:30 p.m. at Ace Smoke Shop on North Lake Avenue in Altadena. The video shows two hooded men, one armed with a rifle, running into the store and demanding money.
The store owner quickly begins placing money in a robber’s backpack. As he does, his Chihuahua erupts into ferocious barking at the two men, who beat a hasty retreat, running out of the store with the backpack but taking less money than they could’ve gotten.
At one point, one of the robbers even points his rifle at the diminutive but undaunted pooch, who chases the pair out of the store and down the street.
Neither the owner nor the dog was injured in the incident.
The suspects are described at male Latinos between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 10 inches. One wore a black hooded sweatshirt, white shorts, black shoes and a red bandanna, and carried a black and gray backpack. The other wore a black jacket with yellow trim, dark shirt and pants, and a black ski mask, and was armed with a rifle.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department detectives at (626) 296-2114 or (626) 798-1131. The public may also provide information anonymously by calling (800) 222-TIPS (8477), texting the letters TIPLA plus the tip to CRIMES (274637), or at the website lacrimestoppers.org.

25 OctA Tiki Tiki Tale:
My outing last Saturday was fun. Even tho we didn’t find me a sweater it was still lots of fun. I’ll let my pictures tell the story.
- Mommy puts me in her purse so we can’s leave
- We are in the car on our way to meet with Master at Panera
- I needed a highchair in order to reach the table.
- I’ll really don’t mind the highchair
- A cup of coffee and a piece of warm bread with butter to start off the day
- I’ll just close my eyes for a minute
- While they finish their coffee. I’ll just nap for a second
- Mommy my feet aren’t touching the ground. This isn’t going to work
- We came to Petco to look for a sweater. Excuxe me does this come in black and a smaller size?
- Well the sweater thing is just not working out for me.
- They do carry in black. But it was to hard to walk in it.
- hmmm… what are these things?
- I don’t mind waiting here mommy while you look around
- I’s think he is talking to me.
- Do all birds have pretty colors?
- And I saw these little things called mice.
- Look they are smaller then me!
- I know its a cat tree for cats. I’m not taking it just resting
- I think Evilcat would enjoy this.
- So that was that! Back in car on our way home
- So that was my Saturday outing. No sweater, but very interesting

Tiki Tiki seems to have his good days and his not so great days . There are days when he wakes up and he looks like a frat boy just getting home from an all nighter, stumbling across the floor to get to his favorite bed in the kitchen and spending all day sleeping just waking up to get a drink of water and some food. Mind you he doesn’t seem to be in any pain what so ever. Just very tired or hung over. My theory is this Master is secretly having him sneak out at night and using him as his wing man. It makes perfect sense what better wingman then Tiki Tiki? Who, male or female, would be able to resist the powers of Tiki Tiki? Tiki tiki’s powers, of course, are used to get into places without a reservation; there isn’t a red velvet rope that can hold him back. He is always on the list. Together, Master and Tiki Tiki, are dining and wine’ing at the best restaurants in town till the wee hours of the night.
Yes it all makes perfect sense now. This is what is going on that’s why some days he seems so tired. I’ll have to set down a couple of rules with Master
- Don’t keep him out to late.
- Only 2 times per week
- Bring back a doggy bag.

A Tiki Tiki Post
15 SepLast Thursday night Tiki Tiki was taken to the emergency room. All of a sudden, without cause, rhyme or reason, his health drastically changed! He became lethargic, listless and dehydrated within hours. At first I thought he had eaten something he shouldn’t have. Then I thought something had fallen on him causing him to be in pain. We took him to the Vet ER at 11:45 at night. The X-rays taken showed nothing foreign stuck inside his stomach or intestines nor did they show any broken bones. After spending 2 hours at the clinic, the first Vet didn’t seem to know much about what was wrong and could only hypothesize with several “it might be this” or “it might be that”. After all that, with X-rays and examinations, his only contribution was to send us home with “Nutri-Cal” a gelatinous cat and dog vitamin supplement which has the consistency of tooth paste and is supposed to be high calorie and full of vitamins. Tiki Tiki is super tiny and one or two days of not eating properly makes his weight loss very noticeable. Seeing no improvement over the weekend and because he is very tiny we thought it best to get a second opinion and take Tiki Tiki to another vet.
The second vet was much more helpful. She performed a routine checkup, took vitals, executed some coordination tests and did an ultrasound. Not being able to derive a definitive result from all her tests, and taking into consideration Tiki Tiki’s apearance and breed, she concluded that Tiki Tiki might have “Hydrocephalus”.
Hydrocephalus is the accumulation of excess cerebrospinal fluid in the brain and is not normal for any breed, nor is it curable. It’s also known as “water on the brain”. When Fluid accumulates in the brain, it compresses the brain against the skull. A puppy can be born with this disorder, or it can be caused by brain infection or head injury later in life. Chihuahuas born with this do not grow normally, often staying extremely tiny.
Unfortunately, there is no real cure for hydrocephalus. Some mild cases can be treated with steroids and diuretics to reduce pressure.
He was prescribed Prednisone and a high calorie diet to bring up his weight again. It might be wishful thinking but yesterday he seemed to have much more energy and strength.
Instead of showing you pictures of him sick, I’ll share some of him before he got sick.

The Weekend
12 JulDid everyone have a great weekend? I know I did! Saturday I had an unbelievably incredible, life altering, mind bending, melt in your mouth steak dinner, mmmmm, it was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo delicious that I forgot to take a picture of it to share here. Needless to say it was a Masters creation.
On Sunday afternoon SiSi and her friends decide to go to the movies, it turns out that I am cool enough to be invited, and since I played my cards right I also got to drive them there. How cool am I? So off to the movie theater we go. We watched “Grown Ups” a comedy with Adam Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and Salma Hayek. I must say I ended up laughing out loud several times. Sisi even asked me to keep it down. Personally, I enjoyed it lots! Or maybe it was the tub of popcorn we ate that made me giddy? Hmmm??? No I’m pretty sure it was the movie that was making me laugh.
After the movie we drove around box hunting. It’s funny how when you need a box there aren’t any around, but when you don’t, they are piled high on the sidewalk. Once the perfect sized box was located we then swung by the McDonalds drive thru to pick up a snack (wink wink).

Tikki tikki tembo-no sa rembo-chari bari ruchi-pip peri pembo…….uff now there is a mouth full! Try saying that 3 times! Ok Ok! I’ll make it easy for you; just call him TikiTiki.
TikiTiki was born May 17th 2010. He is the smallest of his litter, it was touch and go for the first month, we didn’t think he would make it. But he proved us all wrong. It has now been almost 7 weeks and he is putting up a fight with his sister “Bare” who is twice the size of him if not three times bigger.
He loves to be held a lot.. I mean A LOT! And he will just fall asleep in your hands. But his all time favorite place? Oh nowhere, just in between my boobies!
